Comparing Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini Without the Hype

Lesson 1 of 15

Is lesson ke baad tum

Compare AI answers against the same brief. Choose by supported facts and usable results, then record what you tested.

In this lesson

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to choose the more useful of two AI answers and explain your choice with evidence. You can practise with the samples below without an account. If you already have access to Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini, you can also try the prompt yourself; no purchase is needed for this lesson.

Give the Tools the Same Job

Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini are products that offer AI assistants. Their available models, features, and limits depend on the account and can change. A useful comparison starts with a small task you can check, rather than a claim that one brand is always best.

A prompt is the instruction you give an AI assistant. These four parts make a prompt easier to check:

  • Role: a useful perspective, such as copy editor. A role does not give the assistant professional credentials.
  • Context: the facts and audience it needs.
  • Task: the action you want it to take.
  • Format: how the answer should look.

Use this fictional shop brief. The product facts are invented for practice, so do not publish them as a real offer.

prompt to try6 lines
Role: Help me edit a product caption.
Context: A fictional Karachi shop sells a wallet for PKR 3,500.
The supplied facts are full-grain leather and hand-stitching in Korangi.
Task: Write one Instagram caption using only these product facts.
Do not invent a discount, delivery promise, warranty, or stock level.
Format: One sentence, under 30 words, no hashtags.

Keep the prompt unchanged when comparing tools. Otherwise, you may be measuring the difference between your instructions rather than their answers.

Worked Example

Here are two illustrative answers written for this lesson, not recorded outputs or a ranking of particular products:

Answer A: Discover Karachi's best wallet: premium leather, a lifetime guarantee, and free nationwide delivery for just PKR 3,500!

Answer B: Full-grain leather, hand-stitched in Korangi: a wallet from our Karachi shop for PKR 3,500.

Answer A sounds confident, but “best,” “lifetime guarantee,” and “free nationwide delivery” are unsupported. Answer B uses the supplied facts and fits the requested sentence and length. Choose B because it needs fewer factual corrections, not because you like its wording more.

Use the following checks on any answer:

CheckWhat to inspect
FactsUnderline each product claim and find it in the brief.
TaskIs this a caption rather than a marketing plan?
FormatIs it one sentence, under 30 words, without hashtags?
DataDid you use only the fictional brief, with no private customer information?
EditingWhat must you fix before the caption is usable?

An answer with a factual failure needs correction even if it passes the other checks. Several fluent sentences do not make an invented warranty acceptable.

Do This Now

Spend about six minutes on one comparison:

  1. Inspect this third sample: “Hand-stitched in Korangi, our full-grain leather wallet costs PKR 3,500 and is available in five colours.” Name the unsupported claim and write a corrected version.
  2. If you have two assistants available, give each the unchanged wallet prompt and apply the checks above. With one assistant, compare its answer with sample B. Without an account, compare samples A and B on paper.
  3. Save your choice and one reason tied to the brief. For a live comparison, also record the tool, visible model or mode, plan, and date; write “not shown” where necessary.

Check your work: “Five colours” has no supporting fact. Removing that phrase produces an acceptable correction. A different caption is also acceptable if every claim is supplied and the format passes. Your comparison should name an actual correction, or explain that both answers pass; there does not have to be a winner.

One small test supports a choice for this task. It does not establish which product is best for coding, research, or every future task. Module 4 expands this into a repeatable comparison across tasks.

Common Mistakes

  • Choosing the longest answer

Check the brief first. Extra claims can create extra work.

  • Giving each tool a different prompt

Rerun with identical inputs before comparing.

  • Treating a role as expertise

“Act as a lawyer” does not establish qualifications or make advice reliable.

  • Buying a plan to finish this exercise

Use the supplied examples if access or limits get in the way.

Pakistan Angle

Save the brief and your comparison locally if your connection is unreliable. Before paying for any tool later, check its current plan, your account's access, and the total charge in PKR. A paid plan is useful only if its available features solve a need you have actually tested.

A wallet caption keeps PKR 3,500, Korangi hand-stitching, and full-grain leather, then adds 'available in five colours'. Which edit makes its claims match the supplied brief?
