In this lesson
Turn a small comparison into a dated decision record. Lesson 1.1 checked individual answers; here you will account for required features and editing effort. Use the supplied observations if you cannot access two assistants.
Set the Rules Before Seeing the Answers
First identify what the task needs. A short pasted-text summary may need only a chat box. A private file or a connected service needs separate checks of access and permission.
Record the product, visible model or mode, account plan, date, enabled tools, and unchanged input. Use “not shown” when a detail is unavailable. A brand name alone does not describe the test conditions.
Then define pass conditions. For the task below, an answer must use only source facts and preserve pending actions. Those are required checks. Speed or elegant wording cannot compensate for an invented claim.
Worked Example
Use this fictional project note:
The landing-page draft is complete.
The client has not approved the draft.
The developer is waiting for approval before publishing.
Write two bullets: Completed and Next.
Do not say the website is live or invent an approval date.Two illustrative results:
A:

- Next: Launch advertising tomorrow.
B:
- Completed: The landing-page draft is complete.
- Next: Obtain client approval before publishing.
Record the comparison:

B is usable for this task. Adding the columns into a total score could hide A's serious factual failure, so reject failed required checks before comparing convenience.
Hands-On Exercise
Use these fictional observations, which are practice data rather than vendor performance claims:

Write a decision naming the acceptable candidate and the reason. Then change only Tool Y's factual result to “Pass” while leaving the other observations fixed. Predict whether your decision changes and explain why.
Check your work: Initially, X is acceptable after format repair; Y fails the evidence requirement despite a shorter editing time. After Y's factual result passes, Y has the lower measured editing time in these observations. That narrow result does not establish a permanent winner or predict performance on another task.
If you have two available assistants, run the source-note task once in each and make your own record instead. Keep the same source, format, and tools where possible; disclose differences you cannot control.
Feature Facts and Test Results Are Different
Official documentation can establish that a feature is offered and describe its access conditions. Your own comparison measures how a particular setup handled a particular input. Neither proves that one product is always superior.
For a later document or image task, repeat the process with the feature and privacy requirements that task actually needs. Do not upload sensitive material just to make a benchmark feel realistic.
