Set Up a Private, Reusable Job-Search Brief

Lesson 2 of 15

Is lesson ke baad tum

Give an assistant a small, current brief that separates demonstrated work, learning, and unknown facts. Check the output before using it in an application.

In this lesson

Create a small brief that keeps an AI assistant's career drafts tied to evidence. Use the fictional candidate below for the core exercise. You can replace it with your own redacted facts later.

Keep Four Useful Blocks

A job-search brief gives the assistant the facts relevant to the current task. It does not need your life history.

BlockIncludeLeave outside the AI copy
TargetRole family, city-level location, work modeFull home address
EvidenceWhat you did, where, dates, and verifiable scopePrivate records used to check those facts
ConstraintsHonest availability or relevant schedule limitsContracts and salary documents
Output rulesLanguage, format, and no-invention boundaryPasswords, CNIC, bank or reference details

Label whether a skill comes from professional work, a project, coursework, or current learning. Completing a course and applying a tool at work are different claims.

Worked Example

Fictional notes: “BBA graduate in Lahore. Used Excel to summarise stock records in a university project. Learning SQL; no completed SQL project yet. Seeking a junior data analyst role; open to hybrid work.”

A short brief is enough:

prompt to try9 lines
Last reviewed: [date of this practice]
Target: Junior Data Analyst, Lahore, hybrid work.
Evidence:
- BBA graduate.
- Excel: university stock-record project; not analytics employment.
- SQL: currently learning; no completed project.
Rules: Use only these facts. Keep learning separate from experience.
Ask for missing facts; do not invent a result or qualification.
Task: Write a two-sentence profile summary.

An illustrative bad draft says “Professional analyst using Excel and SQL to improve inventory performance.” It invents employment, proven SQL use, and an improvement result.

A supported version is: “BBA graduate who used Excel in a university stock-record project and is currently learning SQL. Seeking a junior data analyst role in Lahore with hybrid availability.”

Hands-On Exercise

Create a brief from these new fictional notes:

prompt to try5 lines
Target: Junior Content Assistant, Karachi; onsite availability.
Evidence: Maintained a six-week university-society content calendar.
Wrote English captions reviewed by the society lead.
Canva: completed beginner coursework; no client work.
Availability: after final exams; exact date not yet confirmed.

Save the four blocks in a private practice document. Ask an available assistant for two profile sentences, or write them manually. Trace each statement to a note.

Check your work: A passing profile can mention the university calendar and reviewed captions. It must not call them client campaigns, turn Canva coursework into professional design experience, or say “available immediately.” If the exact date matters, leave it as a question.

Example: “Seeking a junior content assistant role in Karachi, with university-society experience maintaining a six-week calendar and drafting English captions for review. Available for onsite work after final exams; the start date is not yet confirmed.”

The example omits Canva because a short profile need not repeat every fact. Omission is acceptable; invented proficiency is not.

Store and Share Deliberately

Keep the maintained brief in a location whose access and backup settings you control. A Documents folder may sync to a cloud account; “local” is not automatically private. Avoid public links and shared-device copies.

Before using a real brief in an assistant, review its current data controls and remove unnecessary personal or confidential information. A privacy toggle is not permission to upload someone else's records. Keep evidence files outside the pasted brief unless sharing them is authorised and necessary.

In Pakistani applications, a verified employer may request identity information at a later stage. That does not make CNIC scans, family details, or references' WhatsApp numbers useful inputs for AI drafting.

Failure Cases to Diagnose

  • Learning becomes experience

Label each skill by how it was actually used and reject inflated wording.

  • A start date is invented

Keep the date unconfirmed until the candidate supplies it.

  • An old target persists

Update the target and review date before changing role families.
